SAY GOODBYE TO UNWANTED TATTOO

Sometimes we make impulse decisions we later need to fix. Getting a tattoo can be one of those unfortunate choices. At Maris Aesthetic Clinic, we help you and use lasers to heat the ink particles, breaking them down to be absorbed by the immune system. Multiple sessions may be required depending on the size and colour.

WHY LASER TATTOO REMOVAL?

Laser Tattoo removal is the most popular, non-invasive procedure in the UAE and is both comfortable and effective.  The other alternatives are surgical or microdermabrasion which does not provide consistent or guaranteed results. Laser removal also has the least risks compared to other treatments.

Facts

Process

Before Care

  • Exposure to the sun, tanning beds or products must be avoided for 2-4 weeks before the procedure.
  • The area to be treated must be clean and free of any lotion, makeup, and sunscreen.
  • Photosensitising medication should be discontinued at least six months before treatment and should not be used during treatment sessions.
  • Waxing and using chemical depilatories must be avoided in the treatment area for two weeks before and after to prevent skin sensitivity. Shaving is allowed before treatment to remove surface hair.
  • We are not able to treat pregnant women.

Treatment

  • Using the Q-switch laser efficiently breaks down the pigment in the skin without harming the surrounding area.
  • A numbing cream is applied to the target region to minimise any discomfort.
  • Once the number cream has worked, it is removed, and a cooling gel is applied to the skin to avoid irritation during the procedure.
  • A portable device is then used to deliver high-energy laser light in short blasts. The blasts break the pigment into smaller pieces allowing the body to expel them naturally.
  • Gel packs are applied to the area immediately after treatment to reduce discomfort.
  • An antibiotic cream is then applied to prevent possible infections.

After Care

  • Immediately after treatment, there may be “frosting” on the treated area, redness and swelling are typical, and white hair and Pinpoint bleeding may also occur.
  • A cool compress may be applied, and Tylenol is recommended for discomfort.
  • The treated area should be protected, and trauma avoided until healing is completed, and care should be taken to prevent trauma to the site for seven days after your session.
  • Clean the treated area daily, allowing water to run over the wound and pat the area dry.
  • Apply ointment to the wound 2-3 times a day. Keep the area moist, and let the scab fall off.
  • Do NOT pick, peel, rub, scrub, or scratch at the skin in the treatment area throughout the healing process.
  • Although blisters and scabs can be a normal response to tattoo removal, most patients will not experience them. If you do, it is essential to avoid pop or to pick them. If the blister pops on its own, keep the skin over it covered with a healing ointment and gauze to promote healing and prevent scarring.
  • No swimming or using hot tubs until the wound heals.
  • Physical exercise that causes perspiration should be stopped for at least 2-7 days after treatment, as excessive perspiration may disrupt the healing process.
  • Avoid sun exposure.
  • Contact our clinic if there is any indication of blistering, infection (redness, tenderness or pus) or any concerns.

Side effects

  • The skin may be scarred or burned.
  • The appearance and texture of the region may change.
  • The result may need to be more optimal, with some ink remaining on the skin.
